National Wreaths Across America Day

The 2024 goal is 2,100, which would place wreaths on 100% of the 4 B/CS City, as well as specific requests. For Veterans Day 2016, we extended the original Flag Project started in 1989 by the College Station lodge of the National Sojourners to the 2 Bryan City cemeteries to assist with identification of veteran graves. We received permission to leave the flags up while the wreaths are on the graves.
We coordinate with both Cemetery Sextons and GIS (Geographic Information Services) to provide maps with detailed grave info, as well as update “Find-A- Grave” with photos and GPS data. For Veterans Day 2018, we are permanently providing each veteran grave with an inground PVC pipe that can capped when not in use. |
On Sat, 1/6/24, between 10am to noon, we will need assistance with:
- Picking up the wreaths and flags (cap with PVC with cover)
- Sort flags (set aside damaged ones) and wrap in groups of 10 for storage (bins onsite)
- OR transport wreaths to Aggie Field of Honor compost area for recycling
