REMEMBER | HONOR | TEACH
When College Station, home of Texas A&M, was added as a Wreaths Across America (WAA) location in 2015, WAA volunteers received permission to use a fitting quote from President George H. W. Bush as part of the WAA Ceremony. Engraved on the wall at his Presidential Library & Museum, located on the A&M campus, are the following words: “Let future generations understand the burden and the blessings of freedom."
Over 20,000 Aggies served in WWII, as President Bush had done. Even though he didn’t attend Texas A&M, President Bush was impressed with the selfless service of the students and Brazos Valley community. For President Bush's grave at his Presidential Library, a white, marble Latin Cross has been used to mark his grave. This cross is the same marker used for the 9,387 service members who are laid rest at Normandy. 2020 marks the end of the 75th anniversary of WWII. MGen Earl Rudder rests at College Station City Cemetery as does Eli Whiteley.
WAA donates 7 ceremonial wreaths representing the 6 U.S. service branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard & Merchant Marines) and 1 representing the POW/MIA.
For Veterans Day 2016, we extended the original Flag Project started in 1989 by the College Station lodge of the National Sojourners to the 2 Bryan City cemeteries to assist with identification of veteran graves. In addition, we place flags at Memorial Day. We are also permanently providing each veteran grave with an in-ground PVC pipe that can capped when not in use.

Wreaths Across America receives no government funding to support our mission. Each wreath is sponsored by individuals, organizations, or businesses. Each $17 tax-deductible sponsorship places one wreath on a veteran's grave.
